No matter what any one thinks, there is always room for change and improvement. We all have moments when we say to ourselves, I want to do more, be more. It’s always in the back of our mind, but we never do anything about it, because we are either afraid or we have been discouraged.
Over the last couple of months, I have sat down and started writing ideas on a piece of paper concerning women in the sixties who are looking for change, that is a change in their daily routine, their life in general and one that will encourage them to do what they have always wanted to do. It’s not easy making a change especially when you are now in your golden years. You are not a kid anymore and the thought of making a change now scares you or makes you skeptical. What will people say and how will they react? Family and friends will look at your like you have two heads if you want to make a decision to take on a certain task. They will try to discourage you, although most will give you the support you need to decide what you want to do.
Well, here I am, in my late 60’s, looking to do more. Life is full of surprises and this was certainly one for me. I never thought I would pick up a pen and write ideas that were in my head, then typing them out and submitting it to a publisher. Will wonders ever cease? The best surprise is that it was accepted. My family and friends were amazed and congratulated me on this accomplishment. I was a little nervous telling them at first, but once I did I felt self-confident and knew that I could challenge anything. I am sure that as you read this, you are saying to yourself, yes I have always wanted to do something, but I was skeptical, the time wasn’t right for me, I didn’t have the resources, or just made excuses all the time.
My short book is not a novel, but I got my message across to the women of the world, to think of yourselves now – it’s about time. If you want to do something for yourself go for it. Never be discouraged or be afraid. We only come this way once, let’s leave an impression when we leave. You Go Girl!
