In the mid-1990s, the administration of the school in which I taught decided to change from using 40 minute teaching periods to 70 minute periods. Our author was in a school that adopted the longer periods earlier than many other schools. Our author recounts a workshop given to teachers from another school on what to expect when changing to much longer and less frequent teaching periods in your subject area.
